You have certainly heard about drop shipping. If you are reading this, perhaps you are a reseller, or perhaps a vendor looking to expand to Japan.
Vendors in China drop shipping directly to consumers in the US and other Western countries is the current trend. There is lots of this happening on eBay these days.
How about Japan? Japan IS the world’s second largest economy and the largest market in Asia.
I did a keyword search on Google Suggest just now. The results are quite interesting.
‘drop ship’: 32,000,000 results
‘drop ship UK’: 14,400,000 results
‘drop ship Canada’: 9,040,000 results
‘drop ship China’: 3,870,000 results
And for the world’s second largest economy:
じゃ〜ん! (as they say in Japan)
‘drop ship Japan’: 0 results
0?
Japan is a zero?
I can’t believe that!
What the heck in goin on here?
Ah! Shipping from Japan is really expensive, so no one drop ships, right?
Wrong.
FedEx:
Shanghai to Los Angeles vs. Osaka to Los Angeles
difference is 11% (Japan being more expensive)
That is a small difference.
Japan produces world-class, premium quality products. Many are simply THE best in the world. Most are not readily available abroad. Given uniqueness and quality, there ought to be a whole lot of folks over there willing to pay the cost of shipping to get their hands on the best.
We’ll explore the reasons further in the coming days.
